This image explores the concepts of life and death through the use of water as a means of enabling both. The colours blue and red, which may usually clash, become united through subtlety of tone and depth of shadow, reflecting upon the link between life and death and suggesting how the two phenomenons rely on one another to exist. A cinematic feel to the photograph relates to my influences of film and narrative. The crop creates ambiguity and draws into the claustrophobic and intense nature of the situation. The outcome of the scene is left for the viewer to imagine; this has been left indefinite to demand the viewer's involvement.
