Imaginary Loci (Iceland): Human Constructions
DESCRIPTION
This picture is part of a photography series I took during a road trip in Iceland in September 2015. The series deals with the scattered human constructions in the isolated, vast, natural scenery of the country. These constructions could link to the early human efforts for survival in the natural environment. During those times, before the creation of their communities and while being separated from each other, people tried to create objects that would make their life easier in the primeval environment. Maybe this connection awakes collective memories to the thousands of people who visit Europe’s most sparsely populated country. These constructions stand as individual symbols that represent the recent human presence, just like archaeological findings represent the primal one. This series of photos is entitled Imaginary Loci (Iceland): Human Constructions. The photographs have been taken by an analog camera and the cross processing technique has also been used.
