In September 2015 my wife and me decided to take a road trip in Iceland. We were seeking after images in the landscape of the country, similar to the ones we had already seen, in order to confirm our first impressions.
During our outward routes from one place to another in the most sparsely populated European country, the way to these places was what really intrigued my interest. From the very beginning of this quest I contemplated some verses by K.P. Cavafy:
“ As you set out for Ithaka
hope the voyage is a long one,
full of adventure, full of discovery.
…. Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey.
Without her you would not have set out.” [1]
These verses was what triggered me to give up on my initial quest of the imaginary locations which I thought I would find out and made me focus on the trip itself. Thus, I decided to make a photo section of the Roads.
Roads that stand as a symbol of the journey and as a part of coexistence of the primal and modern landscape of Iceland.
This picture is a part of a wide series of photographs entitled: Imaginary Loci (Iceland): Roads. The photographs have been taken by an analog camera and the cross processing technique has also been used.
