Honorable Mention
Bryce Rainbows
DESCRIPTION
I had come to Utah's Bryce Canyon hopeful for good weather and lighting, having only one day there before moving on. The weather was grey and raining that day - with sunset approaching my hopes for good lighting were fading. I had packed up my gear and started to drive away. I glanced in my rear-view mirror to see the sun had broken through the clouds. I rushed back and was able to capture this image before the sun disappeared back within the clouds. AUTHOR
Richard Vandegriend is a self-taught Vancouver based photographer whose passion is landscape, street and fine-art photography. Believing that composition and timing are critical to a great image, compositional elements are not altered in post-processing. Instead care and patience are exercised to ensure the image was captured perfectly in camera. As landscape photography is so dependent on lighting and weather conditions, more often than not, great images are discovered rather than planned. One must give themselves the time and opportunity to discover these images.
