3rd Place winner
taking selfies inside a church
DESCRIPTION
A group of tourist taking selfies inside the Church in Frankfurt with every piece of art there. They do not put any awareness to the place and the spirituality there. No respect to the place and history, no time for thinking. For them, the church is a museum, one of many on their long list of places which they have to visit. AUTHOR
(b. 1993, Świdnica, Poland). A second-year student at University of the Arts London Camberwell. My work examines the differences (and similarities) between man and the environment, contrasting the wilds of nature with the fragility of the human form. Most of my photographs are taken in the open air, where the naked body is exposed to the elements. My own body is central to approach, and I often act as both model and photographer. This creates a kind of performance, where I seek to find answers to the uncertainties regarding ‘where I belong’ and ‘how I see myself’?
