These images are part of an ongoing series “Blossom Boys.”
The beginning of a study of boys in ballet, it depicts the performance recognised in young male adolescents. Observing and empowering young male ballet dancers who may have the struggle of how they present themselves to their peers and to society’s expectations.
This current collaboration is with my son and his friend in which I aim to help them explore a certain sense of self with the beautiful freedom of dressing up and performing.
Inspiration has been taken from 17th century courtier disciplines when boys were groomed from 10 years old, which included the poise of ballet.
