Honorable Mention
A construction site of a luxury resort located on a cliff at Ceningan blue Lagoon
DESCRIPTION
Each year a large percentage of holiday-makers head to coastlines around the world, where they have an enormous impact on the environment and on the marine ecosystems in particular.Massive influxes of tourists, often to a relatively small area, have a huge impact. They add to the pollution, waste, and water needs of the local population, putting local infrastructure and habitats under enormous pressure. In many areas, massive new tourist developments have been built - including airports, marinas, resorts, and golf courses. Overdevelopment for tourism has the same problems as other coastal developments, but often has a greater impact as the tourist developments are located at or near fragile marine ecosystems.
This aerial picture of the Ceningan blue Lagoon, is telling the story of Ceningan Island.
This peaceful island is one of the most iconic and beautiful views Bali has to offer. However, the island is quickly changing is face when more and more luxury resorts are being built along the coast line in order to provide an upscale getaway from the unbearable crowdenss of Bali.
