Magic Garden
DESCRIPTION
I've been to this spot many times over the winter months and had made plans to photograph this tree in the spring. I waited until conditions were perfect and one early dawn, after an overnight rainfall, they were. The red leaves of the japanese maple are backlit by the early light of dawn. The flowers of the garden had recently bloomed. The desired result was achieved - an almost fairy-like and surreal feeling to the image. AUTHOR
Richard Vandegriend is a self-taught Vancouver based photographer whose passion is landscape, street and fine-art photography. Believing that composition and timing are critical to a great image, compositional elements are not altered in post-processing. Instead care and patience are exercised to ensure the image was captured perfectly in camera. As landscape photography is so dependent on lighting and weather conditions, more often than not, great images are discovered rather than planned. One must give themselves the time and opportunity to discover these images.
