#real #me #ad 3
DESCRIPTION
At the time I studied marketing communications online marketing meant little more than having a website. Since then the roaring success of social media platforms and the rise of influencer marketing not only had a great impact on the advertising industry but also on how many of us take and consume photographs overall. My series “#real #me #ad” examines the sliding line between vernacular and advertising photography and the way we view pictures these days. I want to question the limit of plausibility in visual storytelling as well as the use of the body as an object.
Therefor utilising common motifs of contemporary culture – fashion, food and parts of my female body in a domestic environment – I staged performances that play with nonsensical scenarios. The resulting images are created by a blend of calculation and chance. They are not digitally manipulated. The bright colors and style imitate advertisements, the omission of artificial perfection and the frontal flash vernacular snapshots.
