Honorable Mention
Paradise Lost
DESCRIPTION
Taken in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon, this image was originally titled Eden. One year later, in 2017, a massive forest fire destroyed this piece of perfection, along with 50,000 acres of forest. I decided to re-title it Paradise Lost. AUTHOR
My approach to photography could best be summed up by the quote, “Be still and look until you really see.” When I go out with my camera I try to let go of all preconceived notions about what I want to photograph that day and become as silent and present as possible, open to seeing whatever is there. I wait for a texture, colour, pattern, or play of shadows and light to catch my eye until I can almost hear it saying, “Take my picture please.” I do as little post-processing of my images as possible, as I prefer natural looking photos.
