Archaeological excavations in Bosch's style
DESCRIPTION
Being part of the expedition over five field seasons, I consider it my duty to share the visual component of this large international project to study the Scythian burial mound in the Republic of Tuva. Scientists and volunteers from different parts of the world take part in this archaeological expedition. The project is designed for five years. Therefore, for another three summer seasons in the Tuvan Valley of the Kings, archaeologists will continue to study the material heritage of the ancient nomads of Eurasia. AUTHOR
While studying at the university I got really interested in visual anthropology, at the same time I also became fond of archeology. My uncle, who is an archaeologist introduced me to the archeology of the Scythians. After a few years, this interest lead me to the south of Siberia, where the large-scale international archaeological excavations of Scythian burial mounds have been conducted over few years. I made a number of topical publications on the subject, including one in the National Geographic Magazine. Familiarity with archeology, in turn, led me to the world of cultural anthropology and ethnography. Since 2010 I work as a photo journalist writing and filming on topics related to cultural anthropology. Since 2013 I have participated in large-scale research projects in Central Asia. My research focused on the intangible culture of Tuvans. And since that time I have seriously become interested in the intangible culture of Tuvans. I continued to explore its aspects in 2018, 2019 as part of the expeditions of the Russian Geographical Society. The sphere of my interests mainly concerns the festive culture of Tuvans, as a form of intangible cultural heritage.
