Honorable Mention
Old Worlds Looking at New
DESCRIPTION
“Old Worlds looking at New” fashion editorial by 2b+photo (Tobias Meier) depicts a woman of past times and the reactions she causes by dressing up in the modern fashions of today. 2b+photo makes great use of facial expression, as his four models observe a fifth who dares to wear the new fashions. The supporting models expressions range from curiously, to awe to anger.
They are a reflection of the mixed reactions the confident woman receives, and the societal constraints placed upon her. Setting his editorial in Renaissance times, he eludes to how throughout history society has always been shocked by both the confident woman and latest in womenswear.
In the last scene of the editorial, 2b+photo places the Renaissance men in an oil painting. Once they are put in their static place, we see that the once provocative woman only exemplifies beauty, glamour and strength.
Aside from social commentary, the editorial is a brilliant advertising concept; all eyes go straight to the woman wearing the featured fashion designer, Narces.
