DESCRIPTION
This is an aerial image taken from a fixed wing aircraft around 2500 ft over Shark Bay, WA. The vivd colours of the narrow channels in the tidal flats really pop when viewed from above. The textures of the sand and reef complementing the smoothness of the glassy green. AUTHOR
I am a Perth based landscape photographer with a passion for nature and the natural environment. Photography provides me a voice for an artistic narrative that my engineering brain can relate to, but more importantly it is part of a process of personal expression, mental de-cluttering and being in the moment. For me, it's more about the journey than the destination, but if I do capture something that communicates some of the emotion I felt or evokes personal emotions in others then that is an amazing bonus.
I've also been doing aerial photography from fixed wing aircraft for about 4 years now, and I feel very privileged to be able to explore the land and coastline from the air. I'm always amazed at the way recognisable features on the micro scale can be projected on a scale massive enough to be seen from the air. Thousands of feet in the air is already a very different perspective to view the landscape from, so I use this to search for abstract compositions that leave the viewer to interpret the scene for themselves, and question the reality of what is being presented.
