Waiting for the Procession
DESCRIPTION
The “Processione dei Misteri”, which for more than 400 years has been renewed in Trapani (Sicily, Italy) for Holy Week, sees thousands of people involved: those who make clothes, those who care for and decorate the statuary groups, those who carry them in procession, those who play in the band. A great fervor precedes the day of the procession that takes place every year between Holy Friday and Saturday through the streets of the city. In Trapani it is an event expected all year round where the sacred and the profane, the centenary rite and the popular expression typical of southern Italy merge.
