Sahelian Portraits 1: the Millet Farmer - Niger
DESCRIPTION
Sahelian Portraits: In much of Sub-Saharan Africa, daily labor is graced by color and design, and creativity abounds in the most mundane aspects of existence. Life is lived within art. I captured these images over two different assignments in the African Sahel region - Niger in 2018, and Mali/Burkina Faso in 2021 - while on assignment with Corus International, a US-based NGO that helps small farmers thrive despite expanding desertification and a changing climate. AUTHOR
My work as a content producer for NGOs fuses my creative skills in storytelling, photography and video production with my passion for bringing awareness and assistance to the lives of the world's most underrepresented people. I honed these skills during the 7 years I was based out of East Africa as a beat photographer and multimedia journalist. Today, based out of Richmond, VA, I continue to travel extensively in the developing world to tell stories and capture compelling visuals.
