Honorable Mention
KONTINUUM #1 "Limbus"
DESCRIPTION
The title "Limbus" comes from my aversion against people who´s only interest is beauty and brands. The Limbus leads to hell. The language of the series KONTINUUM is based on David Lynchs quote "Fear comes from not seeing the whole thing". Although I show you all the details, I do not show you the facial expression.
All images from the series go back to nightmares from childhood. On the other hand I was interested how portraits can work when one of the most important things - the facial expression - is missing. So I took extraordinary focus on the light and on what is happening in the background.
AUTHOR
As a photographer I’m not interested in “How is it?”, but in “How does it feel?” Born 1973, former musician (Jazz/Avantgarde/Punk), after hearing loss in 2016 i started with photography. I am a synesthete - words and music appear in my inner eye in colour, so I decided firstly to take black and white photos. But what at first seemed to be a hurdle, turned out to be a thrilling challenge; the colours in my mind, and those in my work have to be unified.
What distinguishes my visualizations from others is their focus on emotions which words often fail to portray.
I depict abstract feelings in specific scenes in order to enable the observer the possibility of forming a connection between the describable and the indescribable .
