DESCRIPTION
Towering sculptures made of wood, plaster and cardboard are the main attraction of the major festival in Valencia, the Fallas, which normally take place each year in spring. On the last day of this celebration, the extravagantly designed figures are going to be ceremoniously burned down. The municipal fire brigade secures the nearby buildings. Because of the Covid pandemic, in 2021 the Fallas took place exceptionally in September. Here is burning the winner piece "Fantasia Veneciana" of the artist Pere Baenas. AUTHOR
As an experienced journalist I have been working for over ten years as an editor and reporter for German public radio, in the field of news, reportage. Alongside, I devote a greater part of my time to journalistic photography.A camera has been by my side since I was a teenager. I taught myself photography with a manual camera. Even to this day, I prefer shooting with manual settings and lenses.
I classify my work as street photography and travel photography, executed with a journalistic-documentary focus. I love to observe people and situations - quietly, not obtrusively, patiently waiting for the right moment that others would miss.
I currently live in Hamburg, Germany. I look back on more than fifteen years of "on the road" experience, especially in the U.S., South America with Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, and also Spain and the Philippines.
