Giacomo Pieracci, Italy
The Ophelia's Zone
DESCRIPTION
"People have often asked me what the Zone is, and what it symbolises, and have put forward wild conjectures on the subject. I'm reduced to a state of fury and despair by such questions. The Zone doesn't symbolise anything, any more than anything else does in my films: the zone is a zone, it's life, and as he makes his way across it a man may break down or he may come through. Whether he comes through or not depends on his own self-respect, and his capacity to distinguish between what matters and what is merely passing. " From "Sculpting in Time" by A. Tarkovskij.
AUTHOR
Giacomo Pieracci was born in Reggio Emilia in May 1995. He is a talented artist, active in the musical field as a much celebrated opera singer and conductor. Giacomo discovered photography during high school, and then began to photograph in 2012 using only film. In 2014 he graduated from the Istituto Superiore B. Pascal in Reggio Emilia in the ‘Artistic’ course. In 2015 he held his first exhibition at ‘Fotografia Europea’, and continued this collaboration until 2018. Following this Giacomo taught photography at the Istituto Superiore B. Pascal for two years. In 2019 Giacomo took up a position working in theatre, and won a scholarship for a prestigious Opera school, which meant a break from exhibiting photography, though he continued his personal research in the field of author and fine art photography. Giacomo met with the photographer Alessandro Rizzi in 2019 who guided him in the search for his own aesthetic, taking as a model the world-famous photographer, and fellow countryman, Luigi Ghirri.
