Juvenile Dalmatian Pelicans are not as flamboyant as their parents. To me, their beauty is in their textures. The glassy eyes, wrinkled gullets, spiky feathers and mottled beaks portray a delicateness that seems fitting for a juvenile. This picture was taken just as the sun had dipped behind the mountain and the January air had become rapidly cold, casting gentle hues over these fascinating birds.
Author: Since lockdown and the pandemic I have found photography a huge source of enjoyment. It has allowed me to tap into nature, be creative, walk miles and meet so many interesting people. I love the idea of capturing and sharing a moment in time. If it pops with colour, then all the better!
