Honorable Mention
High Flyer at the Quay Club
DESCRIPTION
Shot taken at 06.11am on the 6th May 2022. The Quay Club in Canary Wharf is a new addition to the futuristic landscape there. It is the area's first and only Private Member's Club, modelled on the exclusive clubs in Mayfair and Piccadilly. That scene is not my natural habitat, so I look on from the outside with appreciation of the unusual design, by Foster and Partners, and an outsider's curiosity as to why anyone would choose to spend so much money to cut themselves off from people like me.
The shot appealed to me because of the softening effect of the early morning light on the metallic skin of the building and then the lucky intervention of the Gull, hovering above the Club as if - like - me curious to see what might be going on inside.
I am not sure what category to enter, since it is not wholly an architectural shot, nor a conventional bird shot. So I have chosen "Cityscape", but please feel free to move it if you think it better fits another category.
