Limo Riders on Playa
DESCRIPTION
Each year up to 80,000 "Burners" make the pilgrimage to the Black Rock Desert in Nevada for the Burning Man festival. Out of nothing they build a crescent city, and when it's over there is no trace. Artists from all over the world bring their big art and mutant vehicles to the "Playa," the massive open gallery outside the city limits. This limo is not a mutant vehicle, but an art support vehicle from the camp that helps the artists set up and maintain their art for the festival. The riders are mostly volunteers who assist the artists. They have play time too, and hitched a ride for a sunset playa cruise. The sculpture captured in this photo is "The Mind's Eye" by New York artist Launa Eddy. AUTHOR
