Honorable Mention
End of the storm
DESCRIPTION
While exploring the Patagonia region of Argentina, I visited El Chalten, a small mountain village named after its most famous guardian peak also called Fitz Roy. On this particular day, a typical Patagonian fall storm had blown through bringing with it snow and strong winds. As I climbed the trail that leads to this location I passed numerous other hikers all rapidly descending and warning of worsening conditions above the tree line. Nevertheless I continued my climb and just as I crested the ridge was greeted to a break in the clouds. The peaks began to emerge from the tempest and a bit of the last light shown through breaks in the clouds. It was a glorious site. AUTHOR
