Surfs Up
DESCRIPTION
Surf boards stand at attention at a shop in Hanalei, Kauai, waiting patiently for someone to take them for a ride in the ocean. Surfing is part of Hawaiian culture and not for the faint of heart; in the northern part of the island of Kauai, waves can reach as high as 100 feet. The fire department in Kauai carries surf boards on their trucks to rescue tourists who venture out too far into the ocean as first-time surfers. AUTHOR
