Honorable Mention
Blenny of the Rig
DESCRIPTION
While diving oil rigs 65 miles off the Texas Gulf Coast, I found this Tesselated Blenny popping out of a barnacle encrusting the rig. This photo was taken in September 2023. These Blenny grow to 5cm long and live inside empty barnacles while feeding on passing Benthic micro-algae. The amazing and abundant ecosystem below these active oil rigs is truly stunning. AUTHOR
