Honorable Mention
Frosty fluffy curiosity
DESCRIPTION
On foot and on my own I made my way through a whiteout on the vast tundra in the middle of Svalbard, hoping to meet some of the inhabitants of this rough environment. After a long time searching, my efforts were finally rewarded and i found a svalbard reindeer female resting with her curious calf in this harsh environment at the edge of the tundra near the foot of a mountain slope. Driven by its curiousity the young one slowly approuched me to cautiously to pattern me under the attentive eyes of its mother behind its back.
A unique encounter and overwhelming to see how these thick furred animals defy the extreme weather of the high arctic.
AUTHOR
Since my childhood I have been fascinated by wildlife and the different habitats. As a child, I lived with my parents right on the edge of the forest, which is why I was often out in the woods with them and developed a deep affection for nature. When I became a teenager, I developed a great fascination for the north of Europe and the Arctic, where I can often be found today, trying to raise awareness about the need to protect the incomparable beauty of this untamed arctic region. My greatest passion about wildlife photography is to capture the encounter between me and wild animals as familiar as possible to give the viewer an intimate and magical moment into the unique life of this mystical beings.
