Village in the city - Gangxia Village
DESCRIPTION
"Village in the City" is my ongoing photography project. These are the villages I have documented in Guangdong. Amidst China's rapid urbanization, due to economic and time considerations, urban development often opts to bypass rural areas, resulting in a unique sight of cities enveloping villages. Currently, this phenomenon is slowly fading as villages become homogenized and vanish with each wave of development. The original way of life has ceased to exist, and the impoverished residents who once lived there have vanished without a trace. AUTHOR
Majoring in urban planning, Xia (Summer) worked as an editor and editorial director of a Chinese architectural journal for 10 years. Her passion in photography and architecture, has brought her to the professional world of architectural photography.Summer founded Dingxia Photography in 2018, photographing city, architecture, interiors, portrait and events. From behind the lens, Summer helps clients to document their works, build social network, and retell their stories from different platform. Her works varies from wide shot angles that capture the whole mood of the built works, to tight shot angles that focus on details and structures.
When not busy, Summer spends time with her lovely dog sons Aden and Duoduo.
