The enchanted fortress
DESCRIPTION
The enchanted fortress"The Enchanted Fortress" is a series of photographs taken in April 2022 in Calp, Spain. The model is a dancer of Spanish origin, Ana Cembrero Coca.
In my artistic approach, I develop staging - fashion, often offbeat and full of humor.
I am inspired by common feelings around loneliness: melancholy, emptiness, expectation, absence, disillusion, and sweet madness, to stage female characters in poetic and dreamlike universes, to transcend both their cracks and their hopes.
The place chosen for my productions is essential because it is often the discovery of a place that will inspire me to imagine a scene and generate an image.
In the series presented here "The enchanted fortress" I took as decoration the work of the architect Ricardo Bofill: La Muralla Roja. Its pastel shades and its labyrinthine structure strongly inspired me to write scripts and develop aesthetic and graphic stagings in a playful and dreamlike mode. The play of colors is very important in this series.
The artistic intention of my photographic stagings is to create fictions borrowed from reality, in poetic and dreamlike universes where the spectator can imagine his own story.
AUTHOR
Originally from Brittany, whose seaside landscapes rocked my childhood, I studied 5 years at the Beaux-Arts in Rennes and Angers, from which I graduated in 2006 with the congratulations of the jury.I embellished my artistic career with a year in master 1 in Urban Space at the National School of Visual Arts of La Cambre, in Brussels, then by the aggregation in visual arts and space obtained in 2008 with great distinction. This allows me to teach in parallel with my artistic approach in different schools.
Artist, image creator, my artistic approach crossed in 2011 the world of publishing with which I started collaborations: fashion shoots or portraits with public figures for the magazine Victoire, illustrations of articles for Psychologies magazine for 5 years, illustration book for Averbode editions, documentary for the mook 24h01…
In parallel with these orders, I start the realization of my own staging via the photographic medium. Two images from my first series "Stranger in the Day" were exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair in Brussels in 2014, where each of them was chosen as the jury's favourite. The same year I realize my first personal exhibition in Paris. In 2016 I was selected to exhibit at the Photaumnales de Beauvais and in 2017 at the CAC de Meymac. In November 2021 I finished 2nd in the Menton photo festival competition. Since 2019 I live and work in Marseille.
