Together Alone
DESCRIPTION
As a street photographer, I have the unique opportunity to observe people’s behaviour and visually express my thoughts. What I liked about this moment was the simple visual composition and the contrast of the subjects. On one side of the frame, two guys sit close spending some time together, and on the other a projected shadow that portrays only a single distinct figure, creating tension between the two. A moment that invites the observer to question the crescendos of the scene on a deeper level and to reflect on the dynamics of relationships. AUTHOR
Gianluca Mortarotti is a self-taught photographer from Rome based in London, UK.With his work, he attempts to capture life in the streets and the connections between people that can seem strange and unusual. He explores these themes without turning down the intriguing presentation of street scenes or the visual appearance of images. His persona behind the camera brings out his life philosophy of looking for the exceptional in the ordinary and trying to make it visible through a consistent aesthetic that is both narrative and metaphorical in its meaning.
