Sharp Shooter
DESCRIPTION
This photograph is from Dharur, a small place in Marathwada, Maharashtra state, India. Over thepast few years of my work in the field of photography, I have never seen such unique action before!
It was very challenging for me as I had to do this photography on manual focus; auto focus was not
working for this fast action. Summer is the mating season for damselflies, and as they approach the
surface of the water, the fish target them.
Now the action is so fast that the subject's eyes are not in focus and the whole body is in focus
making it a very quick and tidy job. Their activity is slow in cloudy weather and occurs only in bright
after noon. The perfect combination of light, action and angle were hard to capture.
I have been coming here for the past six months to get the frame I wanted, every time I faced new
challenges everytime, like cloudy weather, not getting focus, not having proper depth of field,
shutter speed and exposure issues, I learned a lot from my mistakes. There were many and countless
difficulties. I had exposure issues where some of the fish were green, yellow and silver, and
sometimes the fish would jump but would miss the angle go left or right, which may be due to an
optical illusion because they view the flies from underwater . It happened many times when
everything was set up but no action happened. All I had to do was click thousands of frames for one
perfect shot! At that time I realized that no matter how advanced your camera gears are which top
end camera you use, but it's your luck, hard work and a lot of patience that matters!
