DESCRIPTION
“Flower Stand on the Corner” focuses on the ephemeral and ever changing nature of being. The subject of the photograph is a flower stand on a street corner located in the Upper West Side. Color, light, and compositional changes were used to manipulate the elements within the photograph as to more fully express the protean nature of their beauty, of all that surrounds them, and of all things. Sam Rittenberg lives and works in New York City and the Dominican Republic. His primary focus is on photography’s ability to explore the paradoxical interplay between the finite and the infinite. He is guided by the belief that every image holds the potential to serve as a portal to that which ordinarily lies beyond us.
