DESCRIPTION
This image, like all my work, is an abstract picture of a shoe. By only photographing a fragment of the shoe, using a macro lens, and by lighting it with a combination of strobe light and continuous LED light projected through a gobo, I am abstracting the shoe from its function and its recognizability. In this way I transform the shoe into an abstract design object placing it in contrast with a colorful background, and emphasizing its architectural character and shape. AUTHOR
I am Joeri Vanacker, entrepreneur and photographer, living in Belgium.My Art Photography has derived both from my life-long passion for photography and from my daily experience as a product photographer for my business.
Being the owner of a high-end shoe retail business I decided to put my skills as a product photographer to practical use by creating professional images of our products (shoes) in order to make them stand out on social media thereby enhancing their commercial success.
Always looking for new ways to photograph shoes, I became aware of their intrinsic design value. I started exploring the architectural character of shoes by abstracting their form from their function and from the immediate recognizability as a mere practical object. By exploring a shoe from different angles, by analyzing its texture and by looking only at a fragment, I photograph it as an abstract object in contrast with its environment, and emphasize its form and curves by refined studio lighting.
The result is a collection of colorful abstract images with a strong aesthetic and decorative value.
