Heart of the Marsh
DESCRIPTION
The beauty and challenge of drone photography is that the possibilities are nearly limitless. You can fly endlessly farther than you can walk, gain a vantage point impossible on foot and get into locations otherwise inaccessible. This wetland near Flagstaff, Arizona was beginning to put on her fall outfits so I took my drone out there for the first time. After I flew a few batteries I located this heart-shaped tuft of grass that I felt deeply had potential. Lining it up just right took a few passes and I was positively giddy when I saw this composition come together on my RC screen. To me, it looks like a heart blowing bubbles! Since I was a small kid my preferred hypothetical super power has been flight and droning is the closest thing. Flying Joanie the dronie is always a visceral joy for me. AUTHOR
I am a landscape, nature and nightscape photographer based in the Southwestern United States. This region is a gold mine of otherworldly landscapes, formations and unbelievably dark skies to boot. While I love to travel to and photograph new places far and wide the Southwest will always be home to me.
