Honorable Mention
Gradients of light and colour
Dan Nilsson, Sweden
Gradients of light and colour
DESCRIPTION
I use a special technique to extract the vertical gradients of light and color to reveal the beauty and drama that characterizes a place and a moment. My photographic art builds on multiple overlayed scenes shot from different positions and in different directions. All contributing photos are taken with a 180-degree fish eyes lens, where the circular image is stretched to rectangular format. I build the image, scene by scene, to shape the essentials of the place I want to describe. Sometimes the result looks like a regular photograph, and other times it looks like a surrealist or impressionist painting. I want the art to first catch attention and then to puzzle the viewer. If possible, I turn the background into the centerpiece.
