I captured this image in July, 2024 in the Valensole Plateau region of France at sunrise. This was a challenging trip from both an emotional and photographic perspective. Many of the lavender fields have been converted to wheat as the farmers struggle to earn a living and find that wheat is more profitable, in part due to the ongoing crisis in the Ukraine that is challenging the wheat production there. The fields are also being overrun by instagram influences that carelessly walk through the fields, often disrupting the plants and rows without any regard for the crop and without asking permission from the farmers.
