Emerald Junction
DESCRIPTION
This composition envisions my ideal for the future city. The starting point is my series of photographs of ‘Trudo Vertical Forest’ in the city of Eindhoven, The Netherlands. It is a single residential tower designed by architect Stefano Boeri, known also for his iconic project in Milan (Bosco Verticale).
What attracts me in this subject is the intense rhythm of the block-shaped balconies combined with a great diversity of trees and bushes all over its four facades. This way of building and living truly makes the world a better place, as the foliage keeps out the heat in a natural way and contributes to healing the urban climate in a way that also looks very attractive. Another noble aspect is the fact that this building is intended as social housing, so for people with more tight budgets for living.
For my composition I separately looked up onto the four corners of the tower and put them together into an X-shaped junction, creating a utopian city view that might actually be realized. Looking up in such a steep angle heightens the level of abstraction which shows the buildings beautiful rhythm. It also sets the stage for a luscious dance with the trees and bushes. AUTHOR
