Nicholas D’Angelo was born in Newark, NJ, and attended Montclair State University, receiving a B.A. in art in 1996 and an M.F.A. from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2000. Mr. D’Angelo’s projects have been exhibited at galleries and museums. He has lifelong experience in visual arts, including photography, Painting, Graphic Design, and film. In addition, he has published his poetry in Journals such as The Hungry Chimera Literary Journal, Aleola Journal of Poetry and Art, and a book called "Torpedoes Away".He is devoted to art education. In addition to his MFA, he received a doctorate in education in 2022. He has taught at major universities and is currently an Assistant Professor of Art + Media + Design at East Stroudsburg University, PA.
His artwork has been displayed in exhibitions and highlighted in art journals nationwide. Notably, in 2023, he participated in the "INTERSTATE: Where I-90 Meets I-82" exhibition at the Sarah Spurgeon Gallery, Central Washington University. Additionally, he exhibited in the "Blackout" National Show in October 2022 at the Art on 30th Gallery, and in 2021, he contributed to the Lost and Found Show at the Core New Art Space and the Luminosity Show at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod Juried Exhibition. Moreover, his work earned recognition in the Creative Quarterly journal #71, featured twice in the summer of 2023.
His artwork focuses on speed and the use of action, movement, and thought to create performances and digitally manipulated photography.
