Paradigm Shift
DESCRIPTION
Many people may see my work as solely artistic or as a literal representation of nature; in reality, it embodies both aspects. This image of a stunning, naturally formed, unenhanced agate perfectly illustrates that duality. My goal is to encourage a shift in how we perceive the Earth’s resources, particularly those we often take for granted, such as rocks. As an abstract piece of art, this agate captivates with its intricate patterns and colors. However, beneath its aesthetic appeal lies a representation of the complex chemical and geological processes that shaped it over millions, even billions, of years. This cross-section of agate holds secrets about our planet’s ancient history and composition—details hidden within an unassuming stone until examined closely.
Through this work, I hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for the Earth’s natural beauty and a greater awareness of our relationship with it. It is a call to reflect on what it means to exist here and now, and to honor the resources that silently tell the story of our shared past. This reflection is not merely a mental exercise but a journey of self-discovery and connection with our planet.
