Honorable Mention
KATE IN THE BATH
DESCRIPTION
This visually captivating shot of model Kateryna Prekrasna, taken by photographer Cyril Schirmbeck in 2023 at Soho House Amsterdam, is both intimate and dynamic. Captured under a shower, the image plays with contrast, motion, and light, as droplets of water cascade over Kate’s nude form. The sleek black-and-white checkered floor adds a stark geometric element, juxtaposing the fluidity of the water and the organic curves of her body. The intense lighting and shadows create a dramatic atmosphere, amplifying the vulnerability and strength of the moment.Kate’s pose, crouched and with her hand on the ground, evokes a sense of surrender, yet there’s a quiet power in her stillness amidst the shower’s motion. Schirmbeck’s eye for texture and emotion is evident in how the water, tiles, and skin come together to form a complex narrative of human connection with space and environment. The photo is a testament to Schirmbeck’s mastery in fine art and nude photography, highlighting both the architectural surroundings of Soho House and the raw, emotive beauty of the human form.
