The Land of Fire and Ice
DESCRIPTION
This panoramic image captures the breathtaking beauty of Fjallsárlón, a glacial lagoon nestled at the southern end of Vatnajökull glacier in Iceland, capturing the outlet glacier, Fjallsjökull, as it carves its way into the lagoon, surrounded by dramatic, foreboding skies typical of late autumn. The scene is a testament to the raw power of nature, the glacier releasing massive icebergs that float serenely in the water below. As winter approaches, the landscape transforms, emphasizing why Iceland is famously known as the land of 'Fire and Ice.'
This panoramic view invites you to immerse yourself in the stunning contrasts of ice and rock, framed by the threat of an impending winter challenge.
AUTHOR
I'm a travel photographer based in the North of England and I'm passionate about recording those scenes that make travel so rewarding. As time goes by, increasingly, I am drawn to wilderness, solitude and scenes that are timeless, although the majesty of major cityscapes at times of quiet, comes a close second. In my time I’ve been an army officer, a doctor, a shop assistant, a school teacher, a bartender and a distiller (of some great gin).
I enjoy making pasta, cooking curries and relaxing with the arts of Tai Chi and Qigong. I love riding my motorcycle. In my time, I used to be able fly a plane, play cricket and rugby and I have climbed many mountains,
Most importantly of all, I love my role as a husband, a Dad and spending time with our five dogs.
