DESCRIPTION
This well known and protected site is located in Coyote Buttes, Arizona. I first saw it in 2009 and I knew I had to see it for myself. Access is limited to only 60 people a day and you must have a permit to enter. The permitting process is not easy. When it was first put in place you had to be present. Now, you are able to put in dates on line and hope for a permit. I didn't get a permit, but someone I knew did and they were able to bring 6 individuals. I was one of the lucky 6!

To get to there at first light we started our hike at 4:00 am. It required headlamps, food, layers, a gallon of water and my photography gear. We started in a dry rocky water bed and then started our ascent. We traversed large rocks, scrambled other areas and were rewarded by being the first people to arrive. We were fortunate that it had rained the day before and there was a water pool to make this beautiful reflection. The whole area is otherworldly and a feast for the eyes. It was a 10 hour day with probably 10 miles total of rock scrambles up at times butt scoots down and elevations that this Florida girl is not used to. Well worth the effort and experience!
AUTHOR
I got bit by the Photography Bug when I was in High School. I was fortunate to attend a High School that had a Photography Lab, but more importantly a teacher who was enthusiastic and inspiring. Our first assignment was to make a pin hole camera from a shoe box. My first subject was a tree and watching that tree come to life as it sat in the Developer was fascinating! I graduated from my shoebox when my parents gifted me a camera. My Pentax K1000 went everywhere with me and I took so many photos that I started to buy film in bulk and roll my own canisters. High School turned into Adulthood with Adult responsibilities and my Camera began to collect dust. Fortunately Cell phones came along and soon Cameras were attached, how fabulous!

My Blackberry Pearl came with a 1.3 mega pixel camera and I was in heaven. My love affair fizzled when I tried to print an image and realized I needed to invest in a camera separate from my phone. I graduated from point and shoots to DSLR and now Mirrorless. I don't feel alone when I have my camera in my hand and I have had the good fortune to be able to travel many places in our beautiful world to photograph. Who knew that a shoe box with a pin hole would become my portal to the World.
