Cocooned in Her Thoughts
DESCRIPTION
Cocooned in Her Thoughts is an experimental photographic work that explores the essence of vulnerability and our innate need to shield ourselves within a protective energy. The muse, nude and curled into herself, embodies a sense of retreat and self preservation. Suspended in water, her pose echoes the safety of a cocoon, while the surroundings act as a physical shell, enhancing the atmosphere of enclosure and introspection. With her eyes gently closed and her expression serene, the muse appears immersed in a deep, inward journey or a moment where the external world dissolves, leaving only the internal. Her softly floating hair lends a mystical, dreamlike quality, adding to the image's ethereal beauty.
AUTHOR
Daniel Gilpin is a British-born, Copenhagen-based artist and photographer whose work explores the modern nude as a site of truth and transformation. Trained in figure drawing and grounded in a painter’s sense of light and composition, he creates photographs, prints, and paintings that resist spectacle and refuse digital artifice.Working almost exclusively with natural light, Gilpin treats the body as form, texture, and atmosphere — a vessel for vulnerability and human presence rather than provocation. His practice bridges the classical and the contemporary, reimagining the nude as a universal expression of authenticity.
