Baba Damaru
DESCRIPTION
I photographed Baba Damaru during the Kumbh Mela pilgrimage in India, where 600 million people traveled from across India to bathe in the river Ganges. India’s holy men or ‘babas’ are drawn to the spiritual significance of this festival. I encountered Damaru on the banks of the Ganges away from the crowds in Varanasi, where he spent his mornings and evenings meditating. AUTHOR

His most recent project documented the religious festival, Kumbh Mela. The largest gathering in the world, Kumbh Mela saw over 600 million people make the pilgrimage from across India to Uttar Pradesh. The series documents the people on that pilgrimage, photographed throughout the streets of Varanasi.
