Behind the Facades
DESCRIPTION
"Behind the Facades" is a dramatically staged conceptual portrait that explores the tension between personal identity and the myriad social roles we adopt. The subject is poised centrally on a powerful red podium, their dark floral attire contrasting with the stark, gray wall behind. This wall is covered with a grid of unsettling, expressive masks—a "catalogue of performed emotions" ranging from manic laughter to deep distress. The subject's composed, direct gaze is the only unmasked, unperformative face, questioning the authenticity of the surrounding expressions. This piece uses theatrical composition and surreal elements to meditate on vulnerability, societal expectations, and the silence beneath the noise of performance. AUTHOR
