Honorable Mention

50° Celsius
DESCRIPTION
The 50° Celsius series invites the viewer to reflect on the unfolding climate catastrophe happening before their eyes.In 50 years, it is estimated that one-third of humanity could live in areas that are nearly uninhabitable.
Through his images, Stéphane conveys the physical sensation of living in an environment swept by crushing heat and blinding light. The sun dazzles, and vision becomes blurred. Although the images were taken during the July 2022 heatwave in Nyon, Switzerland, they could have been taken elsewhere, as the locations are vague and even mysterious.
The use of a rudimentary tool like the pinhole camera allows him to capture the atmosphere and ambiance through a nuanced observation of urban landscapes.
This series has been recognised in several international competitions.

AUTHOR
Hi, I am Stéphane. My photographic approach is above all based on feelings. I am drawn to moments, details that express my current state of mind. Every detail of light, shapes, composition and texture has its importance in my images. I need to feel the photography, to immerse myself in it until I approach abstraction to invite the observer to question his relationship to oneself and to the world.@stephgarnav
