Aaron Guy Leroux is an independent photojournalist and documentary photographer currently making books and working on long-term projects. He is one of the co-founders of The Nature of Water collective of photojournalists. He sits on the board of The Nature of Water Scholarship Fund. Aaron has published three photo books; the first, "Were It Not For Shadows," published in 2015, is a book of street photography focusing on Los Angeles, California. The second - "The Nature of Water," co-authored with Adam Malamis and published in 2020, features the collective work of over fifty international photojournalists who documented the 2019 Anti-Extradition protests in Hong Kong. The third, "Between Us," explores isolation, the pandemic, and the George Floyd protests in Los Angeles, all through the experience of two small children.
Leroux has served as a guest speaker discussing his work in Hong Kong at the Amnesty International chapter of William & Mary College, Middlebury College, The Polygon Gallery, and others. In addition, CNN has published his work in Men's Journal, The Economist, Monocle, The New Statesman, The Diplomat, LA Times, KCRW, and The Huffington Post.
