This large series is the result of 4 years of work. The concept is a philosophical study and odyssey about how birth origins can heavily hang over psychology and the whole life of any person being unfortunately born or grown in unfavorable or tragic conditions. All psychology studies show how there is only very little chance, if none, to escape from social discrimination and a promised life disaster. Here is the extraordinary story of Derek Rose and his fight for life. A nowadays tale, fully permeated by Alchemy, Literature and Art references, about faithfulness for friendship and perseverance in the everyday struggle against discrimination/homeless life/exclusion/humiliation/desperation, each possibly leading up to insanity…, an hymn to hope/brotherhood/freedom and love…a vibrant ode to dream, poetry, arts and culture…
“Because of inconceivable birth origins, Derek is immediately sentenced to death by the Khmers Rouges leaders who execute all his adoptive family for its insubordination to have hidden him. Exfiltrated to France by an NGO, but become amnesic, he grows up in a constant spleen in a terrific orphanage where he is given a new identity. He finally escapes. Suffering his total loss of identity, civil decline, homeless life, and everyday/everymoment dangers, leading him straight to insanity, he is only saved by the indestructible friendship of Ben, a young squatter who patiently helps him to find taste to life again. Unfortunately, Ben tragically disappears but lets to Derek a strange inheritance. Thanks to it, ten years later, Derek has become a well-known photographer/reporter. At Broadway, during one of his reports about the biggest show ever made on earth “The Fabulous Opera”, stunned, he discovers on stage all the incredible truth about his life…”
AUTHOR
Birdy Tg is a French artist (photographe/painter/sculptor), writer (novelist/philosophical essayist/poet). Passionate from his younger age by Art in any of its forms, beside Literature and Art studies, he also became a Doctor of Science. A quite unusual career path leading to an atypical body of Art. He is, first of all, a storyteller. Art critics describe his art as diegetic, conceptual, philosophical, allegorical, oneiric, symbolic and encoded. His artworks explore the human nature and its weaknesses, facing its emotions and questioning the great mysteries of the universe, to highlight and analyse the human mechanisms of implication, interaction and intrication that have woven the founds of our society and its evolution bridges throughout the ages and continents.
Birdy Tg uses photography in a non-conventional manner, mostly using photography pixels as a painter works on his canvas with pigments and brushes.
His artistic goal is to recreate the splendour of detail, the keen eye for it, the exuberance of keys and codes, the extreme care for the light and the overall construction that made the great days of Classical Painting, but in a very contemporary expression, using all of the latest photography technologies.
His favourite visual expression is very large format complex frescoes, in which he can patiently incorporate and link several thousands of single photographs together, requiring up to 6 full months of constant work for a single artwork, making his collage technic one of the most unique and achieved in the world.
By his huge dimensions artworks, Birdy Tg first invites the audience to enter into his universe for a full-immersion experience, then, thanks to all the encoded clues, evidence and artistic references included, he incites the viewers to become real actors involved into a true treasure hunt and to take a stand about the underlying philosophical problematic he submits.
