Honorable Mention
the Menger
DESCRIPTION
I photographed this image at the most beautiful hotel in San Antonio, and one of the most haunted in Texas. I knew from the first time I saw the gorgeous vestibule that I wanted to create an underwater scene. Although it wasn't actually filled to the brim with water, I did have a great photoshoot at my studio photographing many aspects of the image you see to give it that perspective. Some of the elements that were photographed separately and added in post production were the curtains, plants, bubbles, myself (in mid-jump), and my hair (a wig!) to get the effect of being submerged in water. I photographed myself as I was jumping on a trampoline to get that nice twirly effect in my dress. I waved the curtains with a fan, and the hair was taken in a bathtub to look like it was being going lower and lower in the water. The . bubbles were photographed in my bathtub as well, and after some time working in Photoshop, I was happy with the work, and I felt like I had reached my goal. I can honestly say this is not my last photoshoot at the historic Menger, as the hotel will be displaying this work (on a standalone metal print) and I will be creating more art there this year! This has been the most amazing experience, and I feel like the Menger will always be a special place for those who seek beauty.
