DESCRIPTION
All images were shot with the front facing camera of an iPhone 6 Plus and then digitally montaged. One of my first digital projects, coming from the darkroom doing experimental works I started this series seeing what I could do with my “daily eye”, my phone and pushing those images to their digital limits.
Each piece is composed of a repeated image and altered to create a composition. There is something very interesting about taking the same picture and repeating, merging, collaging, etc. to create one final image. Photography is much more than just a single, still, well-captured image.
The title is, partially, an ode to psychedelia, the enlightened sense of perception that one can achieve via certain enhancers. Enhancers can vary for each individual, and range from drugs to skydiving to music. Regardless of the method, the outcome of enhanced personal perception remains the same. As long as the action enhances ones perception of their world, is it not worth it?
AUTHOR
Born and raised in Boston, MA, Nickolaos (Niko) Tzigizis is a first-generation Greek-American visual artist. With a preferred medium of photography, Niko currently uses both analog and digital techniques to create his work. By “capturing” aspects of reality, Niko attempts to explore ideas and notions of human emotion, ego, nature, and the sublime.
As an artist, Niko, feels as though each piece, thought, and sketch acts as its own entity. Each idea is its own world. The artist acts as its own universe, continuously giving birth to new worlds and destroying others.
Each piece stands as a portal to its world; its only job to connect to you.
