AUTHOR
Born in 1976, Wolfgang Hafner is a Vienna-based non-professional photographer. His self-taught approach to photography initially led him to street photography, in which he focused on the Viennese city life.
The steadily increase in awareness regarding personal rights was an insurmountable hurdle for him. Since it conflicted the authentic representation of people in their everyday life he was driving for, it ment the end of his journey in street photography.
As a street photographer, he always used the available light and implemented his black/white work. 10 years ago he started to be interested in studio photography. Suddenly the search for available light, as he was using in his street photography-work, was no longer a necessity. Fascinated by the use of artificial light sources, he enthusiastically began to look at the newly found possibilities. His personal development process culminated in an individual style drawn by hard shadows and contrasts.
