Blush
DESCRIPTION
This image is part of an ongoing project depicting the changes and observations of the Menopause through the collaboration of still life imagery, flowers and creative lighting. Society seemingly talks openly about 'The Change' however when it hit me, I was shocked that the sisterhood hadn't prepared me for the heavy weight of physical and psychological changes I confronted. Through kind photography, not gritty images, I want to open discussion, offer awareness, grace and sometimes humour to those women suffering cognitive doubt and feelings of loss in such a way to refund understanding, togetherness, reflection and purpose. Blush opens a discussion about menopause and represents how women can feel when overwhelmed by a hormonal rush where capillaries that carry blood to the skin widen and the blood rush is then brought closer to the surface. The intensity of colour and veinous detail of the petals represent such a blush. AUTHOR
I am a self taught, amateur photographer, living in London. I often delve into family and children photography but my passion is for Portraiture and Fine Art images. I love to emulate the depth of the creative lighting so masterfully presented by the Dutch golden age artists who invoked such emotive visions of life. My still life images hanker back to the days of dark and shadow using natural light to create atmosphere and depth. I want my images to conjure allegorical themes within our times – telling stories and feelings about today. I adore humour and beauty in my still life images and strive to bring back life to that which would ordinarily be overlooked.I am Licentiate member of Royal Photographic Society (RPS). I have taken part in numerous London RPS exhibitions and I have also successfully been part of collaborative exhibitions with Shutterhub UK and London Independent Photographic Society.
